Poem to go along with my pics of phila.
Looking for a way out.
I walked out of the building.
I worked on the top floor of the old fidelity building.
Fidelity.
Fidelity sounds so 20th century.
Nobody touts their fidelity.
It’s now a wells fargo.
Was a wachovia.
Was a first union.
Was a lot of things.
In the subway concourse the sign directing walkers up the stairs still says fidelity.
And the concourse still feels like the 20th century. Mid 20th century.
The concourse feels like somebody accidentally designed a hell.
A lot of the buildings connected to it have put up cinder blocks to close the doorways connecting to it.
The psfs building closed off from it.
It stinks like piss and feels like a mugging waiting to happen.
And it has fidelity.
